About It

I don’t know what possessed me to create my own fantasy baseball blog, but nevertheless, here I am. I don’t think who I am or what I do particularly matters (or will yield a larger audience if I claim to be in a position of knowledge), but I suppose it is worth noting that I have been involved in fantasy sports (writing, participating, etc) for almost a decade. I’m also a huge fan of fantasy football, but when it comes to fantasy sports, I’m a baseball guy first and foremost.

While it devalues many aspects of the game, this “game of numbers” is not meant to paint an entirely accurate portrayal of the real-life baseball as much as it is to engage in competition and achieve success based on the criteria of the league and statistical analysis. It combines competitiveness, intelligence, and baseball knowledge, mixes them together, and spits out a leisure activity that has continually grown in participation and has established itself as a popular hobby.

I’m sure there’s plenty of Fantasy Baseball for Dummies helpbooks and starter guides out there, but I’m not motivated enough to type all that shit out for beginners. I suppose I consider myself an expert, or at least a seasoned connoisseur, so I’m going to delve right into it as if I’m speaking to the guy who somehow beat me in the Championship of my Keeper League last year. Like anything else, there are many abstract concepts, notions, and keys that can make your fantasy football season a success, you just have to know what you’re doing and dedicate a decent amount of time to it. If you’re a beginner or someone who thinks fantasy baseball is a waste of time, then this blog isn’t meant for you. I’m not looking to garner any particular audience nor discourage anyone from reading, but this is more likely to be a mish-mosh of my own manifestations than a site dedicated to the needs of those who read this.

I have a basic layout in my mind with certain categories of material, but I’m just going to let my enigmatic thought pattern run its course over time and see what it spits out. I have a lot of article ideas, I just lack the consistent dedication to turn my mental impulses into keystrokes. I don’t have any particular goals for this blog; I just intend to inform and update my readers and try to be as innovative as possible in the process. The rest is TBD.

In conclusion, this post is pretty much useless (unless of course you’re here to read about me and not fantasy baseball). I just thought it would be a modest starting point and give a quick heads-up as to the scope of material I intend on producing. Questions, comments, sister’s phone numbers, hate mail…email it over or post a comment, I enjoy the feedback. Here’s a future thank you for those who choose to read this (or at least click on the page and make it look like people read this).

Update (2/23/08): Check it out. I’m back in business and soon to be joined by my friend, Dave. Here’s to not giving up on writing in 2008! Or at least until after the season starts this time!
